I have always been fascinated with the beauty and symmetry of the Maryland flag. As a kid, I would doodle Maryland flag patterns in my school notebooks. Then when I was older, I designed and painted the flag on wood plaques and other random items. In late 2015, I had an epiphany… take the American farm tradition of a barn star and paint the unique design of the Maryland flag on it. During the Snowmagedon of January 2016, I sketched and painted my first Maryland barn star. I posted a picture of the completed star on Facebook and the response was overwhelming. I immediately received requests from friends and family who wanted their own decorative Maryland barn star. The enthusiasm was so great that I decided to sell them online and at local craft fairs. Recently, I’ve branched out and created customized barn stars with team colors, other state flags, and company logos.

I’m thrilled that people share my passion for the unique flag of Maryland.
